Non-profit manager jailed for sexually abusing woman with autism

Melbourne, Australia — A manager for a non-profit organization in Australia has been sentenced to jail Monday after being found guilty of sexually abusing a woman with autism.

Timothy Hampson has been found guilty of two counts of sexual penetration of a person with cognitive impairment, one count of theft, and one count of indecent act.

Hampson is a manager at one of the care facilities being run by Yooralla, an Australian non-profit organization. The woman allegedly abused has reduced intellectual capacity and low-functioning autism.

A colleague of Hampson’s decided to place a hidden camera inside his office after growing suspicious of his actions. The 52-year-old suspect was later on caught sexually abusing the woman with autism on tape through the same hidden camera.

Hampson told police officers that he only invited the victim into his office for a hug, but admitted that he turned the lights off. The woman with autism later on told investigators that Hampson was a special friend whom she calls “Tim”, and said that she and Hampson had their “pants down”.

County Court Judge Paul Grant sentenced Hampson to four years in prison. He will be eligible for parole after he serves two and half years of his sentence in jail.
